Whilst Flow received 13.75/15 – well above the threshold to be funded – the cut-off was particularly competitive this time around and therefore, could not be funded for budgetary constraints. As such, the European Commission awarded it with its Seal of Excellence – its high-quality label awarded to projects submitted to Horizon 2020 which were deemed to deserve funding but did not receive it due to budget limits. With the Seal of Excellence in hands, it was able to receive the same funding via Vinnova, Sweden’s national innovation agency, which offers automatic funding for all Swedish companies that receive the Seal of Excellence.
