Kumardev Chatterjee – Founder and Chairman, European Young Innovators Forumkumardev chaterjee


Mr. Chatterjee is a highly-regarded, EU and INTEL awarded Young Innovation Luminary in a group that includes Sir Richard Branson, Serial Tech Entrepreneur – currently Founder and CEO of 3 companies in the EU and US, New York Times published Thought Leader, Expert on Entrepreneurship at the World Economic Forum and European Commission appointed Tech Expert. Mr. Chatterjee started as an entrepreneur at 14 with a social business and built his first tech company at 19.

Mr. Chatterjee has been involved in the design and setting up of the Horizon 2020 SME instrument at the beginning and who as a European commission appointed independent expert, has evaluated proposals for the European Commission of more than 85 Million Euros of grant money till date. Mr. Chatterjee has extensive competences as an experienced ICT expert, industry professional and innovator and entrepreneur himself. Mr. Chatterjee has a long history of involvement in EU policy, grants, proposals, and projects and as such is seen as leading expert in the field.

Mr. Chatterjee has been invited to speak and present at leading institutions across the world including the UN (New York), US State Department (Washington), European Parliament (Brussels and Strasbourg), European Commission (Brussels and multiple cities), Office of Angela Merkel (German Federal Chancellery, Berlin), State of Europe high-level roundtable (Brussels), London School of Business (London), Standford University (Palo Alto) and major conferences and forums including Websummit (Dublin), WEF (Davos), Mobile World Conference (Barcelona and Shanghai), Slush (Helsinki), South Summit (Madrid), Startup Grind (London and San Francisco), Techcrunch (London and San Francisco) and CeBIT (Hannover).  

Mr. Chatterjee’s vision, opinions and views have been published by the New York Times, World Economic Forum, European Commission, European Business Summit, Boao Forum Review and leading tech media across Europe.  He is one of the 50 global thought leaders and experts invited to write a chapter for the European Commission’s “Digital Minds for a New Europe” alongside experts and leaders like Eric and Vint Cerf:

In recognition of his Innovation leadership and the high-impact achievements, the European Commission and INTEL awarded Mr. Chatterjee as an Innovation Luminary – Young Innovation Champion. He is the youngest Innovation Luminary, a group that includes Sir Richard Branson. Mr. Chatterjee has led strategic projects for major corporations like THALES, British Rail (ATOC, Network Rail), General Electric, Sapient, Mercer, NATO, European Commission, EUROCONTROL and SESARJU. He has both breadth and depth of competence and experience in Innovation, Tech, System of Systems, Programme Management, Consulting and Large-Scale Architectures with 18+ years of international tech and programme management experience (EU, US, Asia), in both public and private sectors for large projects and bids (> € 1M size) in domains like Transport (Rail, Air), Services and Government. He has a long history in the mutli-Billion euro Automated Transport vertical – ground, rail and air projects, and large scale architectures and cloud-based software and systems at THALES, one of Europe’s biggest multinational, global engineering firms where he worked for almost ten years.

Mr. Chatterjee holds a MSc. in Computer Science from University College London, as a British Chevening Science Scholar.


Nicholas Zylberglajt – Chief Operating OfficerNicholas Zylberglajt


Nicholas is the Co-founder and COO of EU Startup Services, having supported more than 1350 Startups in more than 20 EU countries. He has grown the company’s presence from 2 to more than 22 countries. He is also the President and Co-Founder of the European Young Innovators Forum, the leading foundation for Youth Innovation in Europe

He is also the Co-Founder of Unmanned.Life, the world’s first Autonomy-as-a-Service AI platform providing autonomous industry 4.0 solutions with patent pending technology. They are disrupting traditional industries such as logistics, postal and surveillance. In Unmanned Life he leads the strategic partnership, business and strategic planning of the company. In only two years, Unmanned Life has grown globally with offices in London, Brussels, Paris and Palo Alto. Unmanned Life has been selected as Best Startup Innovation of the Year by the Postal Industry in 2017, awarded Most Disruptive Innovation by UK’s Deep Tech industry and shortlisted as one of the Emerging Technology Companies of the Year. Unmanned Life is the only AI Drone Startup to have been chosen by Facebook and BT to be part of the Telecom Ecosystem Acceleration Center.

He holds a Masters and Bachelor from Sciences Po Paris and has also studied at the London School of Economics. His background is in diplomacy, European regulatory affairs, digital media and business and partnership development.

He has been a speaker at MIT Technology Review, Lisbon Investment Summit, 4YFN, Global Innovation Summit and different StartUp Weekends.





Louis Papaemmanuel – Director, Sales and Customer Relations


An expert in Funding for Startups and VCs, Louis is currently heading the team at EU Startup Services, directly securing over 30 direct grants ranging between €50K to €2,5M for innovative startups in the past year alone.

Louis has been working at the interface of technology, innovation and funding for over 8 years – initially for Non-Profits, then in Science and Technology at Stockholm University (under the Swedish Ministry of Entreprise), across different thematics, including e-Government, e-Privacy, e-Skills, and Interoperability. Today, Louis focuses exclusively on the European startup ecosystem through mentoring and access to funding, with a core focus on Open Disruptive Innovation, eHealth, Transport, Smart Cities, IoT and Energy.


         Alessandra Maffettone – Operations Manager


Born in Italy to an Italian father and Canadian mother, she feels fortunate to have grown up in a multicultural environment, having studied at an International school since she was 3. Alessandra holds a Law Degree from Italy and an MSc in Gender, Development and Globalisation from the London School of Economics. She is a native Italian speaker, fluent in English and French and has a good command of Spanish.

She has worked in both the private sector in Italy and London and the European Commission in Brussels, in DG ECHO. She has participated in numerous European and International projects and conferences, always striving for youth’s voice to be heard. She loves travelling, horse-back riding, good food and wine (she is very Italian in this aspect). She is getting used to the Belgian weather, although it will take some time.

Matilde has joined EUSS in August 2017 as Senior Proposal Writer & Sales Manager. Italian by roots and traveller by choice. She holds a Bachelor in Political Science from the University of Siena (Italy), a MA in International Relations from the University of Kent (UK) and a certification as Policy Officer & Project Consultant from the Belgian-Italian Chamber of Commerce. She has worked as Analyst for Deloitte both in the UK and Switzerland and as Head of Sales and Projects in Brussels, supporting clients on H2020 and the SME Instrument as well as other European funding instruments.

antonella-1Antonella Rivieccio – Senior Proposal Writer


Antonella is our Senior Proposal Writer. She joined the EUSS team in October 2016 first as a Junior Proposal Writer. Her course of studies has been focused on international policies and, over time, she specialized in European policies and, particularly, in allocation of EU direct and indirect funds. In addition to a Master’s Degree in Diplomatic and International Sciences and a Master in Local and International Development Management, she attended a specialization course in Euro- project Management in order to acquire more knowledge about European funding programmes.

She has worked for various organizations (non-profits, public institutions) and SMEs assisting them in evaluating project ideas and writing project proposals within EU calls.

Her experience in Brussels started in 2014 with an internship at the Brussels’ liaison office of the Campania region.

Damia Priu

Damià Garcia Priu – Country Manager, Barcelona

Damià has a native Entrepreneurial instinct. He graduated both in Psychology (Cognitive Science) and in Computer Science at the Universitat de Barcelona, then he did an Artificial Intelligence stage at the MIT. Later on accomplished an MBA and a PDG degree at IESE Business School of Barcelona.

Considering himself an all rounder with vision and analytic view and, overall, a result-oriented person. He’s got a proven negotiation skills with a strong orientation to sales and growth. Self-motivating and tenacious personality, making things happen.Very proactive and hands-on Executive profile, holding an extensive experience managing and leading start-up companies, creating and launching IT products since 1983, helping international technology brands entering to the Spanish market, educating and developing markets, managing operations, negotiating business partnerships, executing marketing strategies and sales development strategies.


Very pro-active player in the startup ecosystem, he loves helping early stage seed projects to growth and enter the market.


         Sorina Iuga – Senior Proposal Manager

Sorina has joined EUSS in January 2018 as Senior Proposal Manager. Her resposabilities are to overview the content process and take care of proposal writing for Phase 1 and 2, the evaluation and review of the content produced by the writers.

She is a creative, versatile and result oriented business development professional with 15 years of experience in IT sales, combined with technical background and passion in delivering optimal customer satisfaction. She has a proven ability to establish and maintain productive partnerships, including the ability to assist the customers and recommend workflow changes for greater efficiency and effectiveness. Besides having sales roles in companies like Oracle and IBM, for almost 6 years she acted as Business Development Director for INDRA SISTEMAS in Romania.

In 2014, Sorina was appointed independent expert by the European Commission in order to assist with various tasks in the context of managing of EU research and innovation programmes. Since then, she is acting as Proposal Evaluator in areas like Cybersecurity, HPC, ICT solutions for Health, eGovernment and also as Innovation Reviewer since January 2017.

Dan Stanciu – Digital Communications Officer

Dan is a skilled Digital Marketing and Project Management professional. He has strong connections to the startup ecosystem in Europe and is also in charge of the Innovation Strategic Partnerships at EYIF. He likes to write about topics such as Industry 4.0 and EU Funding opportunities for startups and scaleups. He previously worked for several years in the telecommunication industry.

Dan holds an MA in European Union Studies from Leiden University. He also holds a BA in Political Sciences at Bucharest University where he received a Merit Scholarship for outstanding academic results.

He also helps as a high-school mentor in Romania where he inspires kids to study abroad and follow their dreams, informing them of opportunities and struggles they may encounter abroad.

He enjoys astronomy, history, philosophy, multiculturalism and snowboarding.

In the near future, he plans to open up his own business.
